About

The name Herding Cats Genealogy is a nod to my career as a program manager in the tech industry.  Managing difficult projects is  like "herding cats". Cats are mysterious, elusive...much like some of our ancestors.  They don't show up where we expect, follow an atypical path from point a to point b and seemingly do their best not to be found.  But like cats, we love them anyway.

My goal is to encourage you to capture your family history, leaving a legacy for future generations. I hope my blogs inspire you to research and to write about your family.

With roots in the Red River Valley region of North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota, my search for my elusive ancestors extends to regions in Canada, Luxembourg, Ireland and central Europe. I've been researching my family for over thirty plus years and still enjoy the research and writing and meeting new people as much as when I started.

If you need additional motivation and help, I provide professional research, consulting and writing services. Contact me and we can discuss options and fees to meet your family history needs.
