I’ve been searching to see what databases and sites that I haven’t utilized for my family history. Genes Reunited is one that I haven’t used before and noticed on a top ten site list.  Let’s look.
Discover your ancestors - Genes Reunited is focused on family history research in the United Kingdom. They have census data, birth, marriage and death records, photos, and military records. For example, they include information related to WWI and WWII.

Genes Reunited records can be access the following ways:
  • You can try the site for free using a trial. Register with Genes Reunited - Genes Reunited
  • Pay as you go. Credits - Genes Reunited This model uses the credits—pay as you go for viewing records. Depending on the plan, you have access for 30 or 90 days.
  • The third option is a subscription plan Subscription - Genes Reunited These plans are for one month, 6 months or twelve months. The Standard plan gives you access to build your tree, reach out to other members and post to the community boards. You also buy credits to access the historical records.  The Platinum Plan provides complete access to the historical records such as census, birth marriage, death, WWI, and WW records plus what is included in the Standard Plan. It is good to read the fine print as it sounds like specialty records such as parish records might require additional purchases.

I was surprised to find that their blogs hadn’t been updated for several years.  Or perhaps there are more current blogs that are only visible to their members. There appear to be interesting articles, but you do need to sign up to read them. All data appears to be owned by FindMyPast Limited.

We often assume that all data is online or found only on a few sites. It’s good to check out other options, they may have niche information or records. While I don’t have a strong ancestral presence in the UK, it might be worth your while to look at this site. Take some time to explore this site or others to see what you can find. Happy searching!
