Alberta, Southern. Occasionally, a unique site comes to my attention. Grandma Online is a site that is dedicated to researching your ancestors who are Mennonites and Hutterites from Prussia and Russia. Let’s look. You can access the site here: GMOL | User Login (grandmaonline.org). According to the site: “The GRanDMA database includes individuals with Mennonite heritage whose biological and ethnic ancestry came through Prussia and Russia, which is modern Poland and the former Soviet Union. It also includes Hutterites who came through Russia. We might define them as "Mennonites and Hutterites from Prussia and Russia" (MHPR). MHPR is an ethnic designation, not religious, and merits a very short explanation.”
You can learn more about the history and purpose of this database here. A friend has ancestors that fit this criterion and has had great luck in finding information about them. It does appear that you will need to set up an account before you can access any information. You can find the steps to do this here. While I haven’t done so my friend has used the site successfully. As always read the terms and options to see if it will be a useful resource for you. Isn’t it interesting how many unique specialized sites are available for us to research our family history? I hope this site helps you. Happy researching!
